In a matchup that could be repeated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will face off on Thursday, April 3. To build up the excitement for the game, Stephen Curry responded to LeBron James and warned the California team about Jimmy Butler’s level.
All victories have gone to the Lakers. In the 2024-25 NBA season, Curry and LeBron have faced each other three times, with Los Angeles clearly dominating. First, there was a close 115-113 win on December 25, in which Steph and James scored 38 and 31 points, respectively.
Then, the Los Angeles Lakers secured a more decisive victory, defeating the Warriors 118-108 on January 25. In their third matchup, the California team maintained its dominance with a 120-112 win. With that in mind, LeBron didn’t hesitate to issue a warning to Stephen Curry ahead of their fourth and final meeting of the 2024-25 NBA season.
“Our mission is to secure a spot in the Playoffs and avoid the Play-In so that we understand what’s at stake,” said LeBron James before the Lakers vs. Warriors game on Thursday, April 3, at 10:00 PM ET. Curry’s response was just around the corner.

After LeBron made it clear that the Lakers are going all out against the Warriors to secure a direct Playoff spot, Stephen Curry responded to ‘The King’ by revealing what happens inside the ‘Dubs’ when they face high-stakes games like their upcoming clash with Los Angeles.
“We love playing meaningful games. The coach said it before the game: this one (vs. Grizzlies) was meaningful. The rest throughout the season will be like that. So for us to move forward the way we did, it was a total team effort. But I like that Jimmy and I are leading it,” said ‘The Chef.’
Curry warns the Lakers about Jimmy Butler’s impact
It’s no coincidence that the Warriors have 19 wins and only 4 losses when Butler is on the court. “That’s why the trade made so much sense for us and why the results have been there since then. It’s a great tandem in terms of what you said—two different styles. When we’re locked in and have good spacing, it demands a lot of attention. He always makes the right play. As you said, he can get to the line because he has a strong presence. He knocks them down, and even on defense, the steal he made against Ja Morant in the final moments was high-IQ basketball,” Curry said about Butler’s impact on the Golden State Warriors.
