Everything you need to know as the deadline for another ransom note approaches:
- Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home just outside Tucson, Arizona, over a week ago and remains missing. The 84 year old is the mother of NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie.
- Nancy was kidnapped from her home in the middle of the night, police in the US said. She was last seen at her address in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona, at around 9:30pm local time, on Saturday January 31 following a family dinner. Her garage door opened at 9:48 p.m before closing two minutes later.
- Nancy’s doorbell camera disconnected around 1:47am. Thirty minutes later software captured some sort of movement. Nancy’s subscription had lapsed and police explained there is no video available.
- She was reported missing after a friend noticed she did not attend church as normal on Sunday morning. It’s claimed several ransom notes have been issued.
- One of the deadlines to pay up passed by, while another deadline is closing. The notes are said to have included “some very sensitive information and things that people who weren’t there when she was taken captive wouldn’t know,’ Arizona news anchor Mary Coleman told CNN on Wednesday.
- Savannah has now told potential kidnappers that the family will pay the requested ransom. A week after her mother’s disappearance, she posted a video on Instagram and said: “We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”
- Arizona cops have been searching a septic tank and a manhole a the elderly person’s home. It’s not been revealed if there was anything of note found.
