A three-year-old boy has tragically died after falling into a pond on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to an address on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby after receiving reports that a young boy had fallen into a pond.

Both Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service rushed to the scene of the incident before assessing the boy, who has not been identified, and transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite best efforts from paramedics and hospital staff the boy was pronounced dead later that day.

His death is not believed to be suspicious, according to police.

Officers are continuing to support the family of the young boy and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that emergency services were called to an address on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby on Saturday evening (July 18) following a report a three-year-old boy had fallen into a pond.

“The North West Ambulance Service and police attended and the child was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment where he was sadly pronounced deceased. Our officers continue to support the family and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”

No further details surrounding the incident or the boy’s identity have been released by authorities at this stage.
