“The circumstances under which her car was found down the road from her address, she was nowhere to be seen, that immediately raised our suspicions,” Detective Acting Inspector Brian Collins said.
Armstrong’s home was being combed by forensic police and nearby reserves were being searched by police and the SES.
Her brother, Dean Armstrong, fears the worst, saying she’d never willingly leave her son, who is now in the care of relatives.
“We all miss her dearly,” he said.
“I’m just worried about him not living with his mum, you know. I can just tell looking at him that he’s going through a hard time.”

Police and her family said they hold serious concerns for her welfare, stating that her disappearance is “out of character”.
Armstrong’s eldest brother, Sam Davidson, is pleading for information from the public.
“We want anyone with information about Jana’s disappearance to contact police or Crimestoppers or anyone in the family directly,” he said.
“We have two boys, and she loved them so much she would come on holidays with us all the time, over at our place three nights a week.”

Armstrong’s friend, Amelia Street, told the ABC that she works as a support worker, describing her as a “gorgeous soul”.
“She is an angel on earth,” Street said.
“I am absolutely desperate.”
Armstrong is described as caucasian, about 165 centimetres tall, with an average build, blue eyes, and brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a green-and-white striped Country Road shirt, jeans and thongs.
Police are urging Jana, or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts, to come forward.
