NT police say they have recovered the body of a missing 44-year-old man following a large-scale search and rescue operation in a Darwin reserve earlier this week.

Police say the man was last seen entering a service station on Bagot Road in Ludmilla at about 8:05pm on Saturday January 3.

He was reported missing on January 6, with police issuing a public call for information two days later saying they held concerns for his welfare.

On Tuesday police launched a large-scale search operation after a mobile phone triangulation of the man’s device identified the area as his last known location.

On Friday morning police recovered a body in bushland at East Point.

The man’s death was not believed to be suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Authorities say they are in contact with the man’s family and are providing support as formal identification is underway.
