Netflix is continuing to build anticipation for the second season of its hit live-action adaptation of One Piece by announcing new additions to the cast.
The streaming giant has confirmed that Charithra Chandran, known for her role as Edwina Sharma in Bridgerton Season 2, will join the ensemble as Miss Wednesday. The character is familiar to fans of Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga. Chandran, who has also appeared in Alex Rider and provided voice work for Star Wars: Visions, brings her rising star power to the highly anticipated continuation of the series. This news comes to us from Deadline.

The announcement of Chandran’s casting follows Netflix’s previous reveals of several other notable actors joining the show’s second season. Among them are Katey Sagal, cast as Dr. Kureha; Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk; and Sendhil Ramamurthy, known for his roles in Heroes and Never Have I Ever, as Nefertari Cobra. The roster of new faces also includes Brendan Sean Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, and David Dastmalchian, recently seen in Dune: Part Two, as Mr. 3. These actors will bring to life characters from one of the most beloved arcs in the One Piece storyline.
Returning to their roles from the first season are the main cast members who have become synonymous with their characters. Iñaki Godoy will reprise his role as Monkey D. Luffy, the ambitious and charismatic leader of the Straw Hat Pirates. Alongside him, Mackenyu returns as the swordsman Zoro, Emily Rudd as navigator Nami, Jacob Romero as sharpshooter Usopp, and Taz Skylar as the suave cook Sanji. Fans will also see the return of Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida, Jeff Ward as the enigmatic Buggy, and Michael Dorman as the legendary pirate Gold Roger.
What To Expect In One Piece Season 2
Season 2, currently about two months into production, is being filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, a location that has been praised for its scenic landscapes that perfectly capture the exotic and adventurous spirit of the One Piece world. The series, which follows the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they search for the ultimate treasure known as the “One Piece,” has garnered significant attention for its ambitious attempt to bring the vibrant and fantastical world of the manga to life.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has confirmed that Netflix’s live-action series will not include the Alabasta arc in its second season, instead focusing on the Loguetown to Drum Island storylines. Despite concerns over the exclusion of Loguetown from Season 1, Oda and showrunner Matt Owens assured fans that it wasn’t cut but delayed for better narrative pacing. The decision allows for a more detailed and faithful adaptation of around 60 manga chapters, with Oda praising the dedication of the show’s creators to staying true to his original vision.
With the new additions to the cast and the continuation of a beloved story, Netflix is poised to deliver another thrilling season that promises to captivate both fans of the original manga and newcomers alike.
One Piece Season 2 doesn’t yet have a premiere date.
