‘As a Mum, You Just Feel Helpless’ — Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan Breaks Down as She Reveals Son Shane’s Secret Health Stru:ggle That Left the Family Reeling

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan has confessed to being “worried” about her son Shane’s use of weight loss injections but admits she’s proud of his progress.

The 60-year-old discussed the topic on ITV’s Loose Women with fellow panellists Charlene White, Janet Street-Porter, and Katie Piper. The conversation delved into the efficacy and health implications of weight loss jabs and their distribution by the NHS.

Coleen opened up about her personal connection to the issue, revealing that her 36-year-old son Shane has been using the injections and has seen considerable weight loss.

Expressing her concerns, Coleen remarked: “I tend to worry that we are going to find side effects in a year of what they cause of what they don’t cause.”

She added, “I don’t know, I get all worried about it. But I have to say, it’s been amazing for him, for his own mental health, almost,” reports Belfast Live.

Coleen elaborated on Shane’s experience, saying: “He’s feeling better about himself and I think he just needed that first kick in and he said to me today, ‘the thing is mum, I’m not doing it as well as I should be,’ because really he’s not hit the gym while doing it.”

She also mentioned that Shane has shed 3st thanks to the injections and “feels better” despite not having made drastic changes to his diet, although he can no longer eat as he once did.

She expressed her concerns, stating: “Do I worry about it, a bit, because I think sometimes overeating a lot of it comes from a mental health section and your relationship with food and what you’re using food for, so I do think we should look more into that.”

Despite her reservations, Coleen admitted satisfaction with Shane’s journey towards slimming down, expressing gratitude for his candid approach to receiving the treatment.

It’s worth noting that NHS offers such weight loss injections, but only under the guidance of specialist services and typically after more conventional weight-loss strategies have been attempted without satisfactory results.
