During a recent Hot Topics segment on “The View,” the comedian took a swipe at the latest royal kerfuffle involving Markle.

Whoopi Goldberg has time for many things — but royal squabbles over Meghan Markle’s gift tags? Not so much.

During a Wednesday Hot Topics segment on “The View,” Goldberg took a swipe at the latest kerfuffle involving Markle. In a sarcastic manner, she introduced a year-old story about Markle sending a friend a homemade gift, complete with a note signed, “Her Royal Highness.” According to People, the conversation became top of mind when Markle appeared on Monday’s episode of the podcast “The Jamie Kern Lima Show,” where the host mentioned the thoughtful gift and revealed the note that had accompanied it.

The comedian joked that the gesture had reportedly caught the ire of Prince William, given that Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from official Royal duties in 2020 — a move that continues to ruffle more than palace curtains.

“Damn them!” Goldberg exclaimed sarcastically, clearly siding with the couple’s decision to leave their duties in the past.

She then elaborated William’s alleged indignation:

“This has reportedly enraged the heir to the throne, Prince William, who wants to officially strip their behinds of the title once and for all,” she said.

Continuing in her droll tone, Goldberg turned to her fellow panelist: “Is it a bad look for Meghan to still refer to herself as a royal?”

Co-host Sunny Hostin responded, “No. No it’s not,” only to be cut off by Goldberg’s swift response, “There you are,” signaling her dismissal of the did segment.

But Hostin wasn’t finished. The litigator-turned-commentator pressed on.

“Wake me up when you’re done,” Goldberg said.

Hostin then defended Markle’s note.

“It is not,” Hostin said.

“And it is because the agreement that was made did not remove the title. It restricted the way it was to be used. It was not to be used publicly. And she was giving a friend some strawberry jam that she made herself. And she wrote HRH, The Duchess of Sussex,” Hostin added.

“Can I ask a really dumb question?” Goldberg said after all the panelists had given their takes.

“I think it is cringier that her friend aired it publicly,” she said, adding that Markle’s friend “didn’t need to show” the royal moniker.
