Prince Harry is potentially exposing himself to further reputation risks as he prepares to embark on his own, as-yet-undisclosed, commercial venture in the coming months.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, could create a new royal row and end up “even angrier” than he is now, according to royal expert Jennie Bond.

The warning comes as reports suggest Harry is seeking a “new purpose” with the mysterious role, which he will manage alongside his commitments to the Invictus Games.

“Personally, I think this commercial route opens him up to all sorts of accusations of trading on his royal status which would make him an even angrier young man than at present,” Bond suggested.

“I think Harry is still trying to figure out where he goes from here,” she hypothesised while speaking with The Mirror.

The former BBC Royal Correspondent speculated that Harry’s plan may be prompted by a need to generate some more income.

“By normal standards, he’s a very rich man, but life in Montecito doesn’t come cheap, especially with all the security costs he deems necessary,” she said.

However, Bond also wondered if Harry felt pressured to develop his own commercial projects as his wife, Meghan Markle, launched her lifestyle brand earlier this year.

The expert questioned: “So is he content for his wife to be the breadwinner while he concentrates on the children and charity work?

“There’s nothing wrong with that but he might feel he needs to pursue commercial ventures too,” Bond reckoned.

In an attempt to warn the Duke of Sussex, she celebrated the virtue in being a “stay-at-home dad and using his influence to help charities around the world.”

“He’s brilliant at interacting with people and at just being Harry. He should perhaps stick to what he’s born to, trained for and truly good at,” Bond stressed.

The royal expert also wondered if Harry was satisfied taking a backseat to Meghan Markle’s own commercial projects

Even with the major new project looming, Prince Harry has continued to support his charity work.

Earlier this week, he unexpectedly turned up at a travel conference in Shanghai and gave a speech on sustainable travel in his role as co-founder of Travalyst.

Harry’s trip to China marked his first visit to the country and came on the same day his estranged father King Charles landed in Canada for a historic visit.

However, the trip was quickly mocked for needlessly flying overseas to promote sustainable alternatives.

Bond was just one of the voices who noted the apparently hypocritical visit, noting that the: “Irony of flying across the world to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly travel is hard to ignore.”

“Surely a video speech would have been more ethical?” She pleaded.

Regardless, the royal expert was grateful the blunder visit did not overshadow Charles and Camilla’s trip to Canada.

“In fact, it seems to have made very little news at all,” she observed.
