Fans are all hoping the two country giants will join forces for a collab.
Carrie Underwood and Jelly Roll may just be our favorite country music duo at this point.
The American Idol host recently took to Instagram to reveal a sweet nickname she has for the “Wild Ones” crooner.
“He’s the jelly to my jam,” she captioned a photo from the set of the singing competition, adding, “@jellyroll615 is back at @disneyaulani tonight!”
“Love this duo 🤠” one fan wrote, with more chiming in to agree, “Loving Carrie and Jelly roll this season!” and “Maybe it’s time for a Carrie Jelly collab ❤️”
Jelly Roll, real name Jason Bradley DeFord, is the first-ever artist-in-residence during season 23, an honor bestowed on the country singer after fans begged that he join the show permanently following last season’s appearance.
He previously explained his role on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, “I had been a fan of the show, so I was always tuned in, sung at a couple of the finales and I was there for the Iam Tongi season, and so that’s how I got the mentorship job was just being a fan. And I did so good they called and was like, ‘I know this sounds crazy, but we want to create a position where you do that the whole season.’”
It turns out Jelly Roll is a ratings hit, with an Easter Sunday performance with Christian singer Brandon Lake of their recent collab, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” giving fans chills.
“This has been the best American Idol episode ever, in my opinion!!!! We truly had church tonight!!” someone commented on the Youtube performance, as another chimed in to say, “Beautiful! I am literally crying right now. The way Jelly Roll has turned his life around, so he could walk with Jesus! Amazing God’s Grace!”
“Best season of American Idol I’ve EVER EVER EVER seen!!!! Please keep these coming. This song was AMAZING,” another viewer summed it up.
