Since quitting royal life in 2020, Prince Harry has been vocal about the fact relationships between himself and his royal relatives have not all been plain-sailing. Just weeks ago, the Duke of Sussex, 40, claimed his father King Charles “won’t speak” to him, with it already being well-documented that Harry had already been estranged from his older brother Prince William in recent years.
While Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare, published in 2023, may have been one of the reasons between Prince William and Prince Harry’s now distant relationship, the duke did admit in his memoir Spare that a rift was occurring between the brothers beforehand. The-dad-of-two even said that some issues were already present before he wed Meghan Markle.
This led to a “summit” style meeting being held just weeks after the wedding in 2018, with Harry claiming it ended in “shouting”.
Recalling the day in Spare, Harry said he took Meghan to meet up with Prince William and his wife Princess Kate after signs of rifts between the couples.Harry said that Meghan brought up the fact she felt there was tension between the couples, and suggested it went back to a “misunderstanding” that led Kate to think Meghan “wanted her fashion contacts”.
However, as reported by the Scottish Daily Express, the duke claimed in Spare that William and Kate were angry about other problems, including the fact they had not given Easter presents. Harry said he and Meghan then brought up other underlying problems, including the fact that they had been annoyed with William and Kate for ignoring the American tradition of spouses sitting together at weddings – which William and Kate said had not been up to them.
Talking about the meeting, Harry claimed Kate gripped the “edges of the leather so tightly that her fingers were white”, with the princess having reportedly brought up a conversation she had with Meghan before the wedding when Meghan said Kate had “baby brain” just a few weeks after Prince Louis’ birth

According to Harry, Kate told his wife they were “not close enough…to talk about my hormones”. When Meghan said “that’s how I talk with my girlfriends,” Harry claimed William “pointed at Meg” saying: “It’s rude, Meghan. It’s not done here in Britain.”
Meghan then said: “Kindly take your finger out of my face.”
Harry wrote in his 2023 memoir: “Was this really happening? Had it actually come to this? Shouting at each other about place cards and hormones? Meg said she’d never intentionally do anything to hurt Kate, and if she ever did, she asked Kate to please just let her know so it wouldn’t happen again. We all hugged. Kind of. And then I said we’d better be going.”
The Palace has never commented on these claims put forward by Prince Harry. It is believed the two couples have not been on talking terms for some time.
