A guest seemingly obliterated Fox News host Jesse Watters for wearing white jeans on his Fox News show on Monday. Watters admitted to the fashion faux pas during a broadcast of The Five, where the co-hosts discussed whether wearing the white pants was manly.
During the broadcast, Harold Ford Jr. turns to Watters and asks the host if he wore white jeans. ” I wear white jeans,” Watters answers before saying that the article of clothing is “probably the thing that looks best on me.”
“When I have my white jeans on, I look really good, like really good,” the 46-year-old said, causing one of his co-hosts to click her tongue in exasperation. It’s then that the guest, a former wrestler named George Murdoch, asks Watters for a photo.
“I don’t think so,” answers Watters. “But I don’t pick what it represents, boasting or privilege. Because its like tennis whites?”
“I don’t know why they say that,” Ford Jr responds, remarking that his cowork’s answer was “sufficient” for him. IT’s then that Watters resumes his diatribe by saying, “There is nothing not manly about wearing white jeans.”
However, Murdoch, who goes by his ring name, Tyrus, is not placated by the answer and tells Watters as such. When Watters asks why, Tyrus responds with “men get dirty.” He added, “Men work.”
The comment seems to upset Watters, who responds, ” I don’t wear white jeans to my manufacturing job.” Tyrus continues to vocally overpower Watters by asking him if he would “really go to dinner in white jeans.”
Watters, who has become extremely flustered over this converation, announced that he wasn’t going to just drop food into his lap. ” You know what, you should get a bowl of soup,” Tyrus said to the stunned panel of hosts.
“You should get a bowl of soup and sip it throw a straw in your fancy white pants,” he lambasts. Shortly after the comment, Watter calls on the other hosts to weigh in on the topic. Former press secretary Dana Perino then boldly leaps into the fray, saying that the minute she was the headline, she sent it to the show’s producers and Watters saying they should talk about it.
“There are French men white jeans if they are clean and pressed,”Perino goes on to say.” You should definitely wear them. You could rock them from Memorial Day to Labor Day.” Once again, Tryus seems to have an issue with the comment.
“Little French men,” he says scathingly. ” Put a little sailor cap on and take a picture.” Watters, unable to contain himself, shouts, “The French get a lot of women!”
Finally, Jeanine Pirro weighs in, saying that she would “never date a guy who wears white jeans.” The comment elicits a big reaction from Tyce, who yells, “Thank you!”
The mind-numbing clip, which is almost two minutes long, received a very strong reaction from Twitter users. “It’s very manly to make the topic of discussion every single night about what’s manly though,” one user said. “Totally normal.”
“Jesse always sounds like a fragile masculinity dressed up as a commentary,” sneered a second person. “Who freaking cares about what he wears? He still won’t sound confident enough no matter what fabric color, he tried to project his strength in.”
“Slow news day,” a third person scathingly remarked. “Waters should just come out of the closet. He is obsessed with what is or isn’t masculine,” a fourth person said.
