“HIJACKED BUILDINGS…” — A Chilling Clue in the Sh00ting That Left DJ Warras G-u:nned Down on the Street!

The father of three has fallen forever. His family has lost its backbone… Police have revealed that the shooting that claimed the life of Warrick Stock—popularly known as DJ Warras—may be linked to a dispute surrounding “hijacked buildings,” with tensions reportedly arising between him and those illegally occupying the property. The 35-year-old Johannesburg radio host and activist was gunned down outside his Sandton home on December 10, 2025, in what authorities now believe was a targeted assassination tied to his vocal campaigns against urban decay and criminal syndicates controlling hijacked properties in the CBD.

Warras, a YFM presenter beloved for his community work and anti-crime stance, had repeatedly used his platform to expose hijacked buildings—properties seized by gangs for drug dealing, prostitution, and extortion. In recent months, he highlighted a notorious building in central Johannesburg, naming alleged kingpins and calling for police intervention. “He was fearless—said these criminals were destroying lives,” a colleague told Sowetan Live. Family sources claim Warras received threats after a November broadcast, including anonymous calls warning “keep quiet or pay.”

The attack was swift: Warras returning from a gig when gunmen in a getaway car fired multiple shots through his car window. He died at the scene. Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola confirmed: “Early indications point to a dispute over hijacked buildings—he was a voice against them.” No arrests yet, but raids on suspected syndicates are ongoing.

Warras leaves wife Thandi, 33, and three children (8, 5, 2). Thandi: “He was our provider, our everything—now the kids ask for Daddy.” A GoFundMe hit R1.5 million for the family.

As investigators piece together final moments, the “hijacked buildings” clue haunts: a crusader silenced. Johannesburg mourns a voice for the voiceless.
