The Duke of Sussex will likely miss the service for Robert Fellowes next week because his team must give 28 days’ advance notice of his plans to visit the UK so that there can be an appropriate security plan put in place.

Prince Harry’s relationship with his friends and family has been affected by the Home Office’s decision to downgrade his security, it has been claimed.
A source revealed that while the Duke’s UK-based friends are eager to spend more time with him, the requirement to give 28 days’ notice before arriving in the country restricts his visits to special occasions or public events planned well in advance.
The source added that the situation has become so bad Harry will likely miss his uncle Robert Fellowes’ funeral next week because his team must notify the Home Office 28 days in advance of his plans to visit the UK to establish an appropriate security plan.
“Harry didn’t have plans to visit the UK this summer so when something last-minute arises like a funeral, it becomes a very difficult situation to navigate,” said the source.

“Harry would like to spend more time in Britain, but it’s a logistical nightmare for his team due to ongoing security issues.”
When asked if a special concession would be made for visiting the UK for unexpected events like a family funeral, a government spokesman said: “The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.
“It would not be appropriate to comment on ongoing legal proceedings.”
However, there have been two occassions when Prince Harry has torn up the rule book and decided to risk it alone. The Duke of Sussex attended the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022, which was heavily guarded, and also made his way over to the UK when King Charles announced he had cancer.
“Harry has made visits to the UK in the past, but the security issue has remained a constant concern,” said the source.

Another source mentioned that these ongoing security issues have had quite a significant impact on Harry’s relationships with his nearest and dearest in the past few years.
“There have been times when Harry couldn’t attend events that he was invited to,” said the source. “It’s a shame because there are family members who love him dearly and he still has several close friends in the UK.
“The nickname ‘the uninvitables’ was given to them [the Sussexes] because it would be almost impossible to get them to come along to anything.
“It’s not really their fault and because of the Home Office decision, they seem to be suffering because of it.”
Express.co.uk exclusively revealed last month that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle halted their plans to find a home in the UK due to the family’s security fears.
During an interview in the ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial last month, Harry, 39, said that his wife, 43, could not safely return to the UK, and that he feared her being the target of an acid or knife attack triggered by negative tabloid coverage of her.
“All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read,” Harry said.
“And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”

Prince Harry has had a long drawn-out battle with the Home Office over his protection in the UK.
Deliberations centred on the Home Office’s refusal to allow him to pay for police protection when he visits the UK. Harry is currently in the process of appealing the case.
Since stepping back as a working member of the Royal Family in 2020, Harry has been based in the United States with his family.
The Government’s stance is that his security, when in the UK, should be self-funded, except during official royal events or when accompanying the Royal Family.
The Sussexes’ spokesman has been approached for comment.
