“The circumstances surrounding their deaths appear suspicious and we are treating this as a double homicide,” LAPD spokesperson Officer Marisol Juarez said during a press briefing Monday afternoon. “There were no signs of forced entry, and the investigation is ongoing. We are actively pursuing all leads.”

Detectives have not identified any suspects, but are reviewing home surveillance footage and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses. Investigators confirmed that a handgun was recovered from the scene but have not disclosed whether it belonged to the victims or a possible perpetrator.

Robin Kaye was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, having worked behind the scenes on American Idol for over a decade. Colleagues describe her as “a passionate and talented professional” who played a key role in shaping the show’s musical identity.

“Robin was the heart of our music team,” said American Idol executive producer Mark Thompson. “Her passing is an unimaginable loss to our family and to the music world. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.”

Her husband, Thomas Deluca, was a retired television editor who had worked on several popular crime and legal dramas in the early 2000s. The couple had lived in the home for nearly 15 years and were described by neighbors as quiet, friendly, and well-liked.

“We’re devastated,” said neighbor Linda Chow. “They were a lovely couple. Always hosting little get-togethers and so supportive of the community.”

As of Tuesday morning, police had not released any information regarding potential motives or persons of interest. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact LAPD’s Homicide Division at (213) 486-6890 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
