MORRISVILLE, PA — Police blotters often claim fraud cases involving people posing as company representatives, IT technicians, or even relatives. But usually, the name of a celebrity doesn’t find its way into police reports.

That wasn’t the case in a fraud case reported by the Morrisville Borough Police Department.

The celebrity name drop used by the criminal to dupe the resident was Jelly Roll, the popular country music rapper.

Morrisville Police reported a resident complaint about an attempted Facebook Fraud through the Messenger App at 6:20 p.m. on May 28 from a person claiming to be Jelly Roll.

The person requested the victim purchase gift cards and send them through the Messenger App for taxes on winning a new truck through a lottery.

Police said no money was exchanged, and the Jelly Roll impersonator was blocked.
