Critics have also been divided in their assessment of the film.

While some have appreciated its stylistic direction and strong performances, others have pointed out its narrative flaws.

To Catch A Killer follows Eleanor Falco, a Baltimore police officer struggling with personal trauma, who is recruited by FBI Special Agent Geoffrey Lammark to help track down a sniper responsible for a series of mass shootings.

As they investigate, they face bureaucratic interference and psychological challenges that complicate their pursuit of the killer.
Starring Shailene Woodley as a troubled young cop and Ben Mendelsohn as an FBI agent, it delivers a mix of procedural storytelling and character-driven drama.
The antagonist, Dean Possey, played by Ralph Ineson, emerges as a deeply disturbed individual with a misanthropic worldview, and the film explores how systemic failures contribute to such violent individuals.

Jovan Adepo also stars as Agent Jack Mackenzie, while Rosemary Dunsmore plays Mrs. Possey.
