Kate Winslet’s Secret Netflix Project REVEALED!

Kate Winslet își face debutul regizoral cu producția Goodbye June, difuzată de Netflix - Daily Magazine

It has been confirmed that Kate Winslet will be making her directorial debut for Netflix with the upcoming drama Goodbye June.

Alongside directing the film, the Oscar winner is also confirmed to be acting as producer and starring in the movie. Also confirmed for the drama are Johnny Flynn, Toni Collette, Timothy Spall, Andrea Riseborough and Helen Mirren. The screenplay was written by Winslet’s son, and Kate Solomon will be co-producing the feature with her.

Solomon and Winslet have previously worked together, so they will hopefully make a good team on Goodbye June. They previously teamed up on the Lee Miller biopic Lee, which was about the model who became a World War II photographer. Andrea Riseborough was also in the cast of Lee.

While details about Winslet’s directorial debut are being kept under lock and key, she has described the drama as “touching yet humours.” Revealing little about the plot, Winslet said that it is about a fractured group of siblings who “pull together under sudden and trying circumstances.”

Winslet revealed during the press for her movie Lee that she would be making her directorial debut. She confirmed that she had hesitated to take up previous offers due to problems with time constraints and scheduling. However, she said that she has recently felt a sense of “urgency” as there is a responsibility to women in Hollywood to take a place behind the camera.

“So many people will say to me on film sets, people I work with and know well, whether it’s an actor or a crew member, they will say, ‘Why aren’t you directing?’ and I’ll go ‘No, no, no, please don’t say it. Stop saying it. Why does everyone keep saying it?’” Winslet said during an appearance on How to Fail.

She added: “But the more I’m not doing it now, with the need to change the culture, the more I feel like I’m actually letting down other women by not doing it. I’m really starting to feel that in quite a loud way.”

More information on Winslet’s directorial debut for Netflix is expected to soon follow.
