Detective drama fans looking for their next binge-watch can stop searching now. Those who loved BBC’s Death in Paradise should try this American series that has a similar formula and shares the same rating on IMDb of 7.8.
Bones first hit screens back in 2005 and ran for a whopping 12 seasons, before coming to a close in 2017. The series followed FBI agent Seeley Booth (played by David Boreanaz) and forensic anthropologist Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) as they work on cases looking at possible murder victims.

While Temperance brings her scientific background, Booth has his FBI criminal investigative techniques.
Over the course of the show, Bones explored the professional and personal tensions between the two main characters, as well as looking into the lives of the other characters.
The show was based on the life and novels by crime writer and forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, who also served as an executive producer on the show.

Bones also starred Yellowstone’s Michaela Conlin, T. J. Thyne, Eric Millegan, Jonathan Adams from American Dreams, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, and John Boyd of FBI fame.

Many have praised the series on IMDb as one person posted in their 10/10 review: “Criminally Underrated Slice of Heaven.”
A second person in their 9/10 review that they couldn’t stop bingeing the series: “Overall, this show is great and I’m personally on my way to finishing it for the second time in it’s entirety.”

A third person posted in their 10/10 review: “This must be the most underrated show on TV. It has a marvelous cast with David Boreanaz and Emily Deschenel as the leads [sic].” Adding: “Altogether I believe it is the best show on TV.” They added that the writing was “outstanding”.
While a fourth person also gave a perfect 10/10 score and described it as the “best TV show”.
They explained: “The day it aired, I started watching, and immediately, I was hooked. I have been ever since.”
Yet another gave a top-tier review and said: “This show is amazing. I have never been so obsessed about a TV show. I can’t wait for every new episode, and I get seriously angry if it is a repeat.”
Someone else explained in their 10/10 review: “This show is great! I give it a perfect 10. I enjoy the character interaction between the main characters played by Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. It is also really funny!”
Bones is also on par with several other top crime dramas, including the Sherlock Holmes-inspired series Elementary, which holds as 7.9 rating, NCIS which has a 7.8 rating, and CSI which is rated at 7.7.
