MYSTERY DEEPENS AFTER 23-YEAR-OLD DI-ES AT ‘SATURN’S RINGS’—LOCALS REVEAL PROPERTY WAS GUARDED BY UP TO FIVE POWERFUL BELGIAN MALINOIS
One of the key questions about the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old man who died on the grounds of an iconic rural property in Sydney‘s south-west has been addressed by locals.
People who work and live near the distinctive site of the sprawling mansion known as Saturn‘s Rings, in Eschol Park near Campbelltown, said the property was protected by up to five ‘guard dogs’.
The dogs – which were Belgian Shepherds of the Malinois breed frequently used as military and police K-9s – were kept at the property behind high fences and reportedly regularly fed by the property’s owners.
At about 12pm last Wednesday the man’s body was found in the grounds of the home, also known as The Universal Power House, with significant injuries, consistent with him having been mauled by dogs.
The man may have been lying there since the day before his body was discovered. Police, who have now confirmed that the man has been formally identified, reported that a 53-year-old man with minor injuries to his hand was also found at the scene.
Council rangers mounted an operation to round up the pack of dogs before spending last Friday tranquilising a number of Belgian shepherds and transporting them off the premises.
Householders in neighbouring streets or who regularly travelled to the nearby St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown told the Daily Mail they periodically saw people inside the property and the gates open.
Local equipment supplier, Steve Best, of Masterfix Hydraulics said because of where the dwelling is positioned on the top of the hill, anyone approaching the property must have gone there intentionally.

‘It is set back a fair way and to go up there they would have had to know someone or gone looking for something,’ Mr Best said.
‘The dogs are guard dogs and they are on the property to protect the property.’
A woman who lives in a neighbouring property said that the owners needed to protect the property against vandals.
She sometimes saw the owners, who are believed to be the relatives of the property’s founder, Stefan Dzwonnik.
The late Mr Dzwonnik was a Polish immigrant who created the house so it could serve as a centre for a worldwide movement ‘directed toward a better life on Earth’, named the Universal Power World Society.
Modelled in concrete on the concentric rings of the planet Saturn, it was designed with the larger top level as family living quarters and the two lower levels ‘for the society’.
The property appeared abandoned for years, but one nearby resident said that it has more recently been ‘filled in’ and had windows and curtains suitable for occupation.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said that the reason why the man was at the property remained unclear to detectives and was under investigation.
‘It’s a terrible set of circumstances,’ he said.
Commissioner Lanyon said a ‘very key line of inquiry’ would be whether the dead man was an intruder.

‘We need to understand why that male was at the location,’ he said.
The dogs were reportedly euthanised after being removed from the location.
The Daily Mail has attempted to contact the family of Stefan Dzwonnik.
According to Campbelltown Library, he began building the house in 1969 and construction continued into the 1980s, although there was debate about whether it was ever completed.
It features ‘one of the most spectacular in New South Wales with a limitless, panoramic view of the surrounding countryside’.
