One of several doctors who prescribed Lindsay Clancy psychiatric drugs in the months before she killed her three young children is slated to testify Friday at the Massachusetts murder trial.
Clancy, 35, sued Dr. Jennifer Tufts in January for malpractice. Clancy’s ex-husband and the children’s father, Patrick, has also filed suit against his former wife’s doctors whom he claims “overmedicated” her.
doesn’t contest that she killed her three young kids with exercise bands in the basement of the family’s Duxbury, Mass. home in January 2023, while experiencing a slew of postpartum mental illnesses.
The labor and delivery nurse is charged with three counts of murder and faces life in prison without parole if convicted.
Clancy’s defense argues that she is not criminally responsible for killing Cora, Dawson, 3, and infant Callan because she was suffering at the time from the rare, severe phenomenon of postpartum psychosis exacerbated by a dangerous cocktail of 15 psychiatric medications, despite seeking mental health treatment for months.

In a startling moment first thing Friday morning, one of the state’s prosecutors bluntly asked witness Sarah Carney, a Clancy family friend, if she ever saw Lindsay Clancy’s children playing with the exercise bands their mother used to strangle them to death.
The moment came when prosecutor Shanan Buckingham asked Carney about exercise videos Clancy would post of herself on social media that sometimes showed her kids in the background.
“Do you recall previously indicating you saw the kids playing with exercise bands in the videos?” Buckingham asked.
“Sure, if that’s what I said. I don’t recall,” Carney replied.

Psychiatrist Alia Goodheart told the 18-person jury Friday morning that she met with Clancy on Jan. 3, 2023 — two days after she was admitted for inpatient treatment — and asked her about her suicidal thoughts.
Clancy said she had no plans to kill herself and wouldn’t because of “her children and her family and her mother,” the doctor said.
Clancy left the facility on Jan. 5, 2023, for her daughter Cora’s birthday party. She went on to strangle her three kids at home on Jan. 24.

Lindsay Clancy was ‘quiet but fairly normal’ 2 days before murders: friend
Sarah Carney, a college friend of Patrick Clancy, testified about the Clancys coming over to their Duxbury home for a bonfire two days before the murders.
Carney — whose husband Kyle Carney testified yesterday — said Patrick and Lindsay came over with two of their three kids, Cora and Dawson, on Jan. 22, 2023.

Gym babysitter who watched Lindsay Clancy’s kids a week before she killed them takes the stand
A gym employee was the first witness to testify on the ninth day of trial about watching Lindsay Clancy’s kids.
Kimberlee Hardy, who ran the children’s playroom at the Kingsbury Club, would watch Clancy’s two oldest kids, Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3, while Clancy or her husband, Patrick, worked out.
