I SPENT THE NIGHT INSIDE HIS FILTHY HOME: SH0CKING FIRST-HAND ACCOUNT EMERGES AS DISTURBING NEW DETAILS OF AUSSIE ACCUSED IN THAI SUITCASE MUR-DER ARE REVEALED

A Thai mother-of-two has relived her awkward night of sex and cash row with the Australian accused of murdering a 17-year-old girl and hiding her body in a suitcase.

Simon Carman, 45, invited Tang Chai, 43, back to his Pattaya condo in April, just weeks before police allege he killed teenager Tunchanok Donhomla and left the suitcase containing her body next to railway tracks ten minutes’ drive away.

Carman was arrested while allegedly trying to flee the country at Bangkok’s main international airport as he attempted to board a Jetstar flight to Perth.

Ms Chai has now revealed his poor sexual performance during their night inside his ‘stinky’ condo, as sinister new details emerge about his loner life in Pattaya.

Police allege Carman killed Ms Donhomla after a row over AU$20, and now Ms Chai has revealed how Carman angrily disputed her sex worker fee, accusing her of trying to scam him.

‘When I saw the news about Simon I was so scared,’ she told the Daily Mail.

‘I could not sleep for three days thinking about what happened to the girl. I feel sick and worry it happened to me.’

Ms Chai said she had a chance encounter with Carman at a 7-Eleven near his condo after moving to Pattaya just six months ago from the same rural province as Ms Donhomla.

She said she was drawn to the city after hearing it was easy to make money in the red light district.

Ms Chai said she hoped to send regular payments home to her mother, who was caring for her two children, but in reality struggled to make ends meet while working seven days a week.

‘Simon say hello at 7-Eleven and ask for my number,’ she said. ‘He send me messages on WhatsApp same day and ask me out for a date.

‘But I tell him I cannot. I tell him I need money from customers and cannot come for free.’

Undeterred, Carman agreed and booked Ms Chai for an hour the following day.

‘The room was so stinky, smelled musty,’ she said. ‘It was very strong and messy everywhere.’

Ms Chai said she asked Carman to shower and, using Google Translate, he explained she would need to be on top due to a head injury limiting his movement.

He was also ‘too fat’ to complete the sex act, she revealed.

‘We try twice but he cannot and then he tell me to just relax and he stroke my skin, he touch my arms, gently rubbing and he [pleasured himself].

‘Then after he show me photos of him in Australia when he was not fat, and his motorbike and his family.’

Ms Chai said Carman paid her ฿3,500 fee without question.

‘I’m expensive,’ she said. ‘Most girls charge ฿2,000 but I am more and Simon pay and even gave me a ฿200 tip.’

Despite the encounter, Ms Chai said she felt safe around Carman.

The pair later continued to text, exchanging messages about their day, but when Ms Chai asked if he would like to make another booking, Carman refused.

‘If you’d like to see me again, you can call me,’ she wrote.

‘No, 3,500 is a scam,’ Carman replied.

Ms Chai’s experience matches similar encounters with Carman who was a regular in Pattaya’s bars, buying young women drinks, showering them with gifts and repeatedly offering them massages.

Carman arrived in Thailand on a student visa in October 2025, though he had been making frequent trips there for years.

He was well known among the Pattaya bars and cafés surrounding his modest apartment in the city’s south, where business owners greeted him almost every day.

‘Simon had beers and food here most nights,’ bar owner Kate told Daily Mail.

‘The last time he came, one week before the alleged murder, he had seven beers, but when I gave him the bill he say only pay for four.’

Kate said she never discovered why Carman disputed the bill, choosing not to argue with him.

‘Simon is strong,’ she said. ‘He is a friendly guy. Buys drinks for people here but he is really strong.

‘Even when I see him and he gives me a high five, my hand was red after. [He was] always lifting people or [giving them a] strong slap on back.’

Bar owner Kate claims Carman was always offering to massage girls

According to Kate, Carman became a regular at the bar because he wanted to get close to her 20-year-old niece, who worked there as a waitress.

‘He always asked her out and he got her gifts and brought them here for her,’ she added. ‘Things from the market and food.’

Kate said her niece never agreed to go out with Carman and found his behaviour unsettling.

‘He always offered to massage the girls,’ Kate said. ‘Always touching and saying he can do a good massage and do the girls want one.’

Other business owners in the busy strip said Carman would often stop by for drinks, sometimes accompanied by women.

‘I see him here, he come here, but he’s not a customer here,’ one explained. ‘He not make booking with girls here, but he brings girls with him for drinks only.’

Those who knew Carman in the close-knit beachside community said they were stunned by the murder allegations.

‘Always happy but sometimes he can have a temper and argue about things like the bill,’ said one.

‘He just came at 5pm and talked and had food and beers and then he would leave at 9pm to go to bed at 10pm. He did that every time.’

Carman is charged with the teen’s murder and held in Pattaya Remand Prison.

According to his statement to detectives, he offered to give the young girl ฿500 when she decided to leave his apartment.

He claimed to police that when he opened his wallet containing about ฿20,000 (AU$870), the teenager, who weighed just 40kg  and was 150cm tall, pulled out a flick knife, held it to his throat and demanded all of the money.

Carman told police he panicked, grabbed her by the wrists and when she didn’t stop fighting him, he placed his hands around her neck.

Eventually, Ms Donhomla stopped struggling and collapsed to the floor, he said. Carman told detectives he hadn’t realised how tightly he had been holding her.

Sources close to the investigation told the Daily Mail he claims he forgot to take his medication for a nerve condition affecting his brain which can impair his judgement.

Photographs show a large, long-healed scar at the back of Carman’s skull.

The night after the alleged murder, he allegedly loaded the suitcase onto the back of his motorbike and left it in long grass next to railway tracks near Pattaya’s night markets

When he realised Ms Donhomla was no longer moving, talking or breathing, he knew that she was dead, he told detectives.

He then allegedly placed the girl’s body into the 74cm suitcase before he put the knife on top of his fridge and went to bed.

Detectives say he kept the body in the suitcase in his bathroom for the next day, even while her friends arrived at his unit looking for her.

The night after her death, he allegedly loaded the suitcase onto the back of his motorbike and left it in long grass next to railway tracks near Pattaya’s night markets.

The teenager’s friends alerted police to her being missing earlier on Friday and detectives quickly arrested Carman at the airport before finding the teen’s body.

‘As Thai people, we might say that something guided us somehow,’ Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo told reporters.

‘From the very beginning, the investigator who received the report did not ignore it.

‘He reported it to me first, and I also had a kind of instinct that something bad might have happened.’

Carman faces the death penalty or life imprisonment if convicted.

Ms Donhomla’s family on Sunday ruled out any blood money deal with Carman which could reduce his sentence to as little as seven years in jail.

Thongchai Donhomla said the family wanted the ‘legal process to take its course’ as Simon Carman, 45, faces life imprisonment or the death penalty over the alleged murder of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla.

‘Even though I am poor, I will not trade my daughter’s dignity for money,’ he said. ‘I love my daughter so much.’
