Amanda Owen has admitted that she worries about her kids as she opened up about a certain “extreme” activity they like to take part in. The Our Yorkshire Farm star lives with her family on the remote 2,000-acre Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale, Yorkshire, which has been the subject of two reality series.
A mum of nine to Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine, and Nancy with ex-husband Clive, Channel 4 star Amanda has now shared insights into the unique upbringing that her brood enjoys.
In a revelation that would strike fear into the hearts of many a parent, Amanda revealed that some of her children have taken up an activity they dubbed “extreme hide and seek”.
Indeed, she said their sprawling home comes with places to climb and they’ve “even got a cave”. Amanda said her kids even informed her they’d “been caving”, to which she responded that’s “fantastic”.

She added it’s an “absolute joy” to be able to give her children “that freedom”, noting that the family is “blessed” as they have so much space around them.
However, when asked if she worries about her children, particularly considering today’s parenting culture, she noted that she does, but you “can’t live your life being risk-averse”.
Amanda told the Darlington and Stockton Times: “Yeah, course I do. You want to keep your child safe, of course. But danger comes in many forms, whether it’s vehicles, fast-flowing rivers, things with teeth and hooves, or even through a small screen.
“Who knows where the danger’s coming from, but you can’t live your life being risk-averse, and I wouldn’t teach that or champion it. Just learn how to live your life and have a sense of practicality as well.”
She added that to “some degree”, we have to be “fearless” in life, pointing out that we need to be someone who take “steps forward” and not somebody who “shies away”.

It follows reports that Amanda has shared some sad news from the family farm, taking to Instagram to share her frustration about an act of vandalism in the countryside.
She explained that somebody had “dug up and taken the flags” from the floor of some old pens that lie on the border between Cumbria and Yorkshire that had likely “stood here for centuries”.
Amanda pointed out that the site “has got history” and was still in use today by shepherds and farmers, highlighting how sheep are still put in them, and they’re used for work.
Amanda added: “But at some point over the last couple of days, somebody has taken it upon themselves to desecrate it, whether they had a job for these flags or whether they just got them because they thought nobody was using this place.”
You can next catch Amanda on Our Farm Next Door on Channel 4 this evening (Saturday, August 2) from 6.10pm to 7.10pm.
