A SCHOOLGIRL who tragically died after being found in a river near a Scots beauty spot has been named by cops.
Emergency services raced to the scene at Gore Glen Woodland Park in Midlothian on Friday afternoon after the young girl was reported missing.

The alarm was raised after police received reports of concerns for 11-year-old Faith Curran in the area around 12.40pm.
A major search and rescue operation was launched to find the girl, but devastatingly, her body was found in Gore Water close to Shank Bridge near the village of Gorebridge around 4.25pm.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Faith’s heartbroken family has paid tribute to their “happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life” through Police Scotland.
They also thanked everyone who assisted them with their search and for their support and kindness.
And they have asked that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.
Police say the girl’s death is currently being treated as “unexplained”, however, there are not believed to be suspicious circumstances.
An investigation is currently underway to find out the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Floral tributes have been left at the bridge after the incident last weekend.
A section of woodland near the water where her body was found had been taped off by cops.
A neighbour in the nearby Arniston estate previously told The Scottish Sun: “It’s absolutely tragic. I can’t stop thinking about it.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to is just so upset and shocked. I’ve barely slept for thinking about it.”

Another neighbour said he woke up to the news on Saturday morning.
He said: “I didn’t know a thing about it until I seen it on social media. Your heart just breaks for the family. How do you ever get over that?”
Another local added: “That’s a popular wee trail for dog walkers and the like. It’s just so tragic.”
A statement from the force read: “The 11-year-old girl who died following an incident in the Gore Glen area, near Gorebridge, can be named as Faith Curran.
“Faith’s family reported her missing in the area around 12.40pm on Thursday, 6 August, 2026.
“Her body was found in the Gore Water near to Shanks Bridge around 4.25pm.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene and her family are aware. They have asked that their privacy is respected.
“Faith’s family would like to thank those who assisted them with their search, for their support and kindness.
“They describe Faith as a ‘happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life’.
“The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be suspicious circumstances.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
