Aguilar remembered Zacapala as “a beloved nephew, friend, son and high school football player.”
“As his uncle Danny, I am heartbroken by this unimaginable loss. Aziel was a good kid, full of promise and kindness, and he had big dreams of making it to the big leagues as a football player,” he wrote in the description. “Just six days ago, Aziel was doing well, spending time with his football friends at Rosemead Park’s 4th of July event, enjoying life and the camaraderie that meant so much to him.”

“His dedication to his sport and his positive spirit inspired everyone around him, and his absence leaves a deep void in our family and community,” Aguilar continued.
Aguilar said the teen’s mom is unemployed and raising two other children amid the tragedy.
“Now, she faces the overwhelming daily hardships of supporting her family during this devastating time. We are reaching out to our community with a heavy heart, asking for your support to help his mom as she navigates this painful chapter,” he wrote.
“As a father of three myself, I cannot begin to imagine the pain my sister is experiencing,” the uncle continued.
An X account for Rosemead High School’s football team shared the fundraiser, writing, “Aziel was a bright light in our community, and his loss is deeply felt. His family is facing immense challenges right now and your support can make a real difference.”
