Netflix viewers looking for their next binge have just hours to watch ‘one of the best shows’ with a Shetland star(Image: BBC)
‘One of the best crime dramas’ is available to watch on Netflix now.
Departure, which first aired in 2019, sees Kendra Malley, an aviation investigator, looking into the disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanished mysteriously over the Atlantic Ocean. The show has three series and a total of 19 episodes.
Leading the cast is Shetland star Archie Panjabi who plays Kendra Malley – the lead Transport Safety and Investigations Bureau (TSIB) investigator. In 2016, Archie, 54, played Detective Sergeant Asha Israni in Shetland series three.
Also joining Archie in the cast are the likes of Lost Girl star Kris Holden-Ried as Dominic Hayes – a TSIB investigator, Ginny & Georgia star Mark Rendall as Theo Barker – a TSIB investigator and the late Christopher Plummer as Howard Lawson – the senior manager of the TSIB and Kendra’s mentor. Christopher sadly died in 2021 aged 91.

Departure is currently available to watch on Netflix but it leaves the streaming platform on Tuesday 30 June, giving fans just hours to binge the show.
The series has received rave reviews from fans who have branded it ‘one of the best crime dramas’ and ‘one of the best shows I’ve seen in years’.

A different account put: “I’ve bingewatched all three seasons and find them really entertaining. It has a brilliant balance between a tear, a smile and suspence within a captivating storyline. Some personal stories are mixt into solving the cause of the disaster, which give the characters more depth.
“Each season has lots of plot twists, but they all make sense. You keep trying to figure out who’s to blame until the end, switching back and forth between the options given.”
