Meghan Markle is setting the record straight about whether she’ll pen a memoir.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, commented on the topic during a surprise appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show that aired on April 28. While Meghan hosts the podcast Confessions of a Female Founder from Lemonada Media, her cameo on Jamie Kern Lima’s show was her first time taking the mic as a podcast guest.

The friends had a heart-to-heart in the wide-ranging conversation about life, motherhood, business and more, where Jamie asked Meghan if she had any plans to write a book.

“You’re a New York Times bestselling author. Would you ever write another book?” she asked.

“Yes, maybe, for sure. I love, right now, working on everything in the space of hospitality and home and entertaining and food and those sort of tips,” said the Duchess of Sussex, who has had a busy spring with the premiere of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan and launch of her lifestyle brand As ever

“Something like that, I think, could be really fun,” she said. “Of course, children’s books are great. And then I think people are often curious if I’m going to write a memoir, but I’ve got a lot more life to live before I’m there.”

During her days as a working royal, Meghan wrote the foreword for Together: Our Community Cookbook and was instrumental in its September 2018 publication as a fundraiser for the Hubb Community Kitchen following the Grenfell Tower fire in London in 2017.

She made her debut as an author with the children’s book The Bench, which was published in June 2021, a few days after the birth of her daughter, Princess Lilibet, 3. The Duchess of Sussex previously said the text was inspired by a Father’s Day poem she wrote for Prince Harry in 2019, shortly after the birth of their first child, son Prince Archie, now 5.

The Bench quickly hit No. 1 on The New York Times Bestseller list for children’s picture books.

Prince Harry, 40, published the groundbreaking memoir Spare in January 2023 about his childhood in the royal spotlight, military career, love story with Meghan and their momentous step back from their royal roles in the U.K. in 2020.

Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE about the book previously, Prince Harry said, “It’s a raw account of my life — the good, the bad and everything in between.”

During the same conversation on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Meghan touched on another hot topic — whether she’d run for office one day.

“Would you ever run for office?” asked the podcaster.

“No,” Meghan replied, adding, “Never. Oh, God. I mean, you could say, ‘Never say never.’ No, I’m not interested in that. No,” she said.
