It’s just past 7 a.m. in SoHo, and while most of New York is still crawling toward consciousness, Greg Gutfeld is wide awake—burp cloth slung over one shoulder, bottle in hand, and baby Mira balanced perfectly on his chest. The once-ironic king of late-night conservatism, known for his biting takes and no-filter sarcasm, now starts his day with lullabies instead of headlines.
“She’s the only person who interrupts me and gets away with it,” Gutfeld jokes, eyes softening as Mira grips his finger mid-bottle. “I used to debate guests. Now I negotiate nap times.”
This softer side of Gutfeld—one his fans rarely saw before December 2024—has emerged front and center since Mira was born. Though he’s returned to Gutfeld! and The Five, it’s clear his heart is no longer just in studio monologues or political punchlines. It’s in the quiet, unscripted moments at home—feeding Mira in the early morning, cheering her on during tummy time, or nervously Googling baby rash remedies during commercial breaks.
The Studio That Became a Nursery
Producers at Gutfeld! have learned to adapt. There’s now a bassinet tucked discreetly behind a curtain, and the scent of baby wipes has become as familiar as camera lights. Mira’s occasional visit to the set is met with delight, not disruption. Kat Timpf has even coined a nickname for her: “The Ratings Baby.”
“She’s the only guest we’ve had who can drool on my monologue cards and still get applause,” Gutfeld quips.
He credits wife Elena Moussa—his partner of over 20 years—with making this new chapter manageable. “She’s a machine,” he says. “I’m just here for comic relief and diaper duty.”
A Dad at 60—and Loving It
At 60, Gutfeld admits he never saw himself as a father, let alone a “girl dad.” But now? “I’d rather read Goodnight Moon for the 12th time than argue with a panel about inflation,” he says. “She doesn’t care about the news. She just wants me to make silly faces—and honestly, it’s the best gig I’ve ever had.”
When asked what surprised him most about fatherhood, Gutfeld pauses. “How much I needed it,” he says. “For years, everything was about opinion, noise, performance. Mira doesn’t care about any of that. She just wants me. Unfiltered. Real.”
The Next Big Segment?
Rumors are already swirling about a new recurring segment on Gutfeld!—a “Mira Minute,” where the host offers parenting advice, baby bloopers, or just showcases life with his co-star-in-training. “It’s in the works,” Gutfeld teases. “But only if she agrees to stay up past 7.”
For now, though, he’s content soaking up the moments—catching tiny smiles between naps, sneaking kisses between feeds, and marveling at how a five-month-old girl could turn his entire worldview upside down.
“She’s my best punchline,” he says, eyes twinkling. “And for once, I don’t need to say anything to get a laugh—she just has to smile.”
