Jelly Roll is in town as he and Post Malone kick of Hershey’s summer concert series.
That event is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
But, prior to the show, the big man decided to get in some hoops action with his crew at a local high school.
Hershey coach Paul Blackburn received the Legacy Award Wednesday at PennLive’s Sports Awards, and during his speech he made the revelation.
Blackburn said he got a note during the day that said, “Jelly Roll, basketball,” and he wasn’t sure what it was all about until after school. That is when he said the gym was locked down so that the country music star and his friends could play basketball.
“I thought, ‘Cool, he’s coming to congratulate me on my award,’” Blackburn joked. “But I got to meet Jelly Roll today and then this.”
Blackburn did not report whether Jelly Roll can actually hoop or not.
Jelly Roll is one of country music’s most popular stars, and like Post Malone, he began his career as a hip-hop artist.
Basketball fits into his routine because, after starting a weight loss journey last year, he revealed in April that he has lost nearly 200 pounds, and he joked that if he loses 100 more he is going skydiving.
