Nearly 10 years ago, country music star Blake Shelton and No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani surprised the world — and themselves — when they fell for each other after enduring heartbreaking splits.

“I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell…Gwen saved my life,” Blake, 48 — who’d divorced singer Miranda Lambert, 41, around the same time Gwen, 55, split from her first husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, 59, in 2015 — later told Billboard. “Who else on Earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician?”

1. Keep the Faith

Gwen’s faith in God is the anchor in her second marriage and an inspiration to Blake, who started “seeing the God in everything” when he first fell in love with Gwen “because she does,” he told Taste of Country. “She has such a strong faith,” he added, calling it “No. 1 in her life.”

Blake often attends Mass with Gwen at her Catholic church in L.A. He also built a chapel for her — it’s the site of his 2020 proposal and their 2021 wedding — on his Oklahoma ranch!

2. Embrace Ranch Life

Growing up, Blake’s three favorite things were “country music, fishing and hunting,” he told Hook & Barrel magazine in February. California girl Gwen, meanwhile, is a self-described “makeup girl,” she told Rolling Stone.

But she found her groove on Blake’s 1,300- acre Tishomingo, Okla., ranch where now “we find so much joy in gardening together,” she confessed to the music magazine. She also goes fishing and even “has her own tractor now,” Blake told NYLON magazine in 2024.

3. Have Fun Together

Gwen is Blake’s “best friend,” he told Access Hollywood last year, musing, “Maybe that’s the key — we literally have so much fun together, whether we’re having a cup of coffee in the morning or watching a movie or performing in an arena somewhere.”

4. Be a Family

Last year, Blake admitted to Entertainment Tonight that Kingston, 19, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11 — Gwen’s sons with ex Gavin — have changed him “in every possible way.”

He embraces taking them on family vacations (they recently enjoyed a spring break getaway at a resort in the Ozarks, Gwen revealed on Instagram) but also tries “to be smart about when to step back,” he told Today in November. “I’ve had stepparents,” Blake explained. “I think it’s, in some ways, harder, more difficult … But no matter what, I’m always there if I’m needed.”

And he told Entertainment Tonight last year, “Whether it’s music, getting their hands in the dirt or being out on the ranch seeing the animals, whatever, I absolutely love being the person who gets to introduce them to that stuff.”

5. Record Music Together

From 2016’s “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” to 2025’s “Hangin’ On” (which appears on For Recreational Use Only, Blake’s first full-length album in four years, which came out May 9), Gwen and Blake have now released seven duets together.

“I love singing with him,” she told The Guardian last year. “He’s very humble and doesn’t realize how good he is. There’s something so attractive about that.”
