Things got heated during The Five on Thursday evening as the panel discussed a series of poll results put out by Fox News.
The likes of Greg Gutfeld, Jessica Tarlov, Brian Kilmeade and Dana Perino were on hand to discuss the latest trials and tribulations of the current U.S. government under President Donald Trump, when the argument over deportation cropped up.
Fox had issued a poll asking for viewers’ thoughts and the result sparked a heated debate among the panel. Kilmeade kick-started the discussion, asking Tarlov, “Do you think this is the dry hole we’re portraying it as, or do you see some Democrats continuing to get behind this guy?” referring to Abrego Garcia, who is believed to have been wrongly deported.
Tarlov, a Democrat, replied, “Well, there’s definitely a benefit to it, and that doesn’t mean that I don’t think the majority of the emphasis should be on the economy. But if you look at our own latest polling, Fox poll that came out yesterday, Reuters, Quinnipiac, now Donald Trump is underwater on immigration, which was his strongest issue.
“So he’s above on the border and deportations, but generally speaking, on immigration, he’s underwater two to one margins, and the U-boat poll that Americans think that Garcia should be brought back here.”
Gutfeld, who welcomed his first child at 60 years old last year, jumped in, “Because they’re not getting the information.” Tarlov fired back, declaring, “No, it’s not because they’re not getting information. What they were able to do actually, is understand, contextually what is going on here so if it’s not just about Abrego Garcia, it is about what’s true.”
“What was the question?” Gutfeld asked as Tarlov pulled a puzzled expression on her face. Gutfeld then repeated his probe, “What was the poll question?” His co-host then stumbled over her words, before Gutfeld interrupted again, “I’m just saying I guarantee it was worded in a way to get the intended answer.”
Jessica Tarlov argued back with her The Five co-star during Thursday’s airing
“Well, I guarantee you that our own polling that showed an underwater in immigration was fair,” Tarlov fired back for a final time. Fans online were quick to jump in with the discussion, but it seemed many were siding with Tarlov.
One user @OptimizedPath quoted Gutfeld, writing, “‘They don’t agree with me, so the poll must be biased.’ The right’s entire media strategy in one sentence.”
As @escapeeJT asked, “How do these ppl make millions of dollar to literally debate on air and the best they can muster is to argue with their own networks poll?”
“He’s an idiot,” fumed viewer @mcjeff42, as @nikosunity blasted, “Gutfeld can’t fathom that Americans oppose deporting someone who won in court so now it’s the poll’s fault. Delusion is a hell of a drug.”
