BREAKING – Another India Plane Crash: Helicopter Carrying Toddler and Family Crashes Near Holy Site—7 Dead in Heartbreaking Pilgrimage Tragedy

Uttarakhand, India – June 15, 2025

What was meant to be a sacred journey ended in unspeakable heartbreak. A helicopter carrying pilgrims—including a toddler and her parents—crashed near the revered Kedarnath temple early Sunday morning, claiming the lives of all seven people on board.

The Bell 407 aircraft, operated by Aryan Aviation, had just departed from Kedarnath and was en route to Guptkashi when it lost contact around 5:20 a.m. Rescuers found the wreckage near Gaurikund, engulfed in flames, with no survivors.

Among the victims: a young couple from Maharashtra and their 23-month-old daughter. Tragically, other family members were meant to be on that same flight but were delayed because one of their children wasn’t feeling well. That twist of fate spared their lives—but left them grieving.

The pilot, Captain Rajveer Singh Chauhan, a former Indian Army officer, had recently become a father to twins just four months ago. He was known for his experience flying in the Himalayas. His life, like those of his passengers, was cut short without warning.

The crash has sent shockwaves across the country—especially since it marks the second fatal air incident in India this week, following the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad.

This is also the fifth helicopter-related incident in the region since April, raising serious concerns about aviation safety during the Char Dham pilgrimage season. In response, the government has suspended all helicopter flights to Kedarnath and launched a full investigation.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has grounded Aryan Aviation and ordered a probe by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. Until further notice, all flights to the area have been halted. Pilgrims are being advised to use alternative trekking or road routes.

For now, a nation mourns the loss of innocent lives—lives that ended not in battle, not in violence, but on a peaceful pilgrimage to a holy place, where faith met tragedy in the sky.
