Spoiler alert: This post contains major plot details from Season 2, Episode 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday. If you haven’t watched yet, now’s the time to stream!
One of the big questions left hanging at the end of Wednesday Season 1 was the identity of the mysterious stalker who had been shadowing Wednesday Addams. That mystery becomes central early in Season 2 — and fans now have their answer.
In Episode 2, the stalker is revealed to be Agnes DeMille, a new character played by Evie Templeton. Agnes is not only a fellow Nevermore Academy student, but also a devoted fan of Wednesday herself.
Fan-Turned-Stalker: The Creative Inspiration
According to co-showrunner Alfred Gough, the idea of the stalker being an obsessive fan came naturally after Season 1’s explosive success.
“We liked the idea that Wednesday would have these sort of odd super fans after saving the school,” Gough explained. “And the way that this fan wants to profess their love and admiration is basically to knock off the roommate.”
Co-showrunner Miles Millar added that the inspiration came in part from observing the show’s passionate fanbase:
“We saw so many young girls embrace the show with such fervent ardor, and we thought, ‘What if one of those kids was a student at Nevermore and became this stalker?’”
Why Evie Templeton Was the Perfect Fit
Casting Evie Templeton in the role of Agnes was an easy decision for the producers. Beyond her performance, her appearance helped bring the character to life:
“She has these big anime eyes,” Millar said. “When she’s on screen with Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers, the three of them together are like magic.”
