Shocking Courtroom Confrontation: Rape Victim Slams ‘Evil’ Tom Silvagni as Parents Miss Emotional Statement
By Crime Desk December 23, 2025
In a packed Melbourne courtroom, the young woman raped by Tom Silvagni delivered a heart-wrenching victim impact statement, staring down her attacker via video link and branding his actions “calculated” and “evil”. The 23-year-old son of AFL legend Stephen Silvagni and TV personality Jo Silvagni showed little emotion as the victim detailed how his deception and assault shattered her life. Notably absent during key moments of her powerful testimony were Silvagni’s parents, who have publicly vowed to stand by their son despite his conviction.

The dramatic scenes unfolded in the Victorian County Court as part of pre-sentencing hearings following Silvagni’s guilty verdict on two counts of rape earlier this month. The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons and was referred to under the pseudonym Samantha Taylor in some reports, fought back tears while reading her 28-minute statement directly to Silvagni.
“It’s actually terrifying that someone you thought you knew and trusted could do something so evil,” she told the court. She described the premeditated nature of the attack: “It was an intentional deception that required planning, calculation and a willingness to violate another human being – me.”
The victim revealed she now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, haunted by the rape “every single day”. “You didn’t just violate my body that night. You violated my trust,” she said, highlighting how Silvagni’s lies made her doubt her own reality.

The Night of Deception
The assault occurred on January 14, 2024, at the Silvagni family’s luxurious home in Balwyn North while his parents were away. The victim had been invited over by Silvagni’s girlfriend, model Alannah Iaconis, a close friend at the time.
After a day of drinking, the group dwindled. The victim had consensual sex with Silvagni’s childhood friend Anthony LoGiudice in a guest bedroom. LoGiudice left around 2am, but Silvagni deceived the victim by claiming the Uber was cancelled and LoGiudice was returning.
In the dark room, Silvagni impersonated his friend and digitally raped her twice – once while pretending to be LoGiudice, and again while restraining her despite her protests. She texted Iaconis immediately after, reporting the assault, and called her mother in distress.

Iaconis has remained loyal to Silvagni, attending court and even visiting the family home recently. Some reports suggest she provided testimony supporting his version of events.
Family Support and Absence
Stephen and Jo Silvagni have been vocal in their support, stating after the verdict: “Our son continues to maintain his innocence and we stand firmly behind him.” They have indicated plans to appeal.
However, observers noted their absence during parts of the victim’s emotional statement, with Silvagni appearing alone via video from prison. The parents attended other hearings, including sentencing, where Jo reportedly shoved a reporter.

On December 17, Judge Gregory Lyon sentenced Silvagni to six years and two months in jail, with a non-parole period of three years and three months. The judge condemned his “cunning, planning and strategy”, lack of remorse, and attempts to cover up the crime, including forging an Uber receipt.
Aftermath and Defiance
The victim later posted a defiant message online: “No one does me dirty and gets away with it.” She thanked supporters, saying the outcome gave hope to survivors.
The case has sparked debate about privilege, entitlement, and double standards in sexual assault reporting. One male assault survivor highlighted backlash the victim faced online compared to male victims.
As Silvagni begins his sentence, the family legacy – tied to Carlton AFL glory – is forever tarnished. The
