Set in the fictional tight-knit Welsh town of Morfa Halen – precariously perched between towering mountains and a relentlessly encroaching sea – the series opens with a once-in-a-generation storm brewing offshore. Former detective turned teacher Jackie Ellis (Reilly) discovers the body of her 8-year-old pupil, Cefin, apparently drowned. This harrowing find revives traumatic memories of a three-year-old unsolved case: the disappearance of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, which shattered her career and eroded her family’s trust.
