The 40-year-old entertainer was gunned down in broad daylight on Tuesday, December 16, in the Johannesburg central business district near the Carlton Centre. Police are investigating what appears to be a targeted assassination linked to his work reclaiming hijacked buildings through his private security firm, Imperium Security.

Speaking to SABC News journalist Chriselda Zozi Lewis and other media at the cordoned-off site, a visibly shattered Nicole appealed to the public: “I can’t disclose the details of what’s actually happened here today; it’s traumatic. We have been here for a couple of hours. I don’t know what to say. All I can just say is that let us respect the mourning period. He’s got beautiful children, beautiful moms, you know. We need positivity right now.”

Nicole Stock appeals for privacy and positivity amid the family’s grief.

She emphasized remembering Warras for his positive impact: “We know he spoke up about many different things, controversial topics. Let’s not focus on the negative. Let’s focus on what he stood for. That he was a good guy. He found humour in things that traumatised most of us.”

Nicole described her brother as a selfless, inclusive individual: “He loved everybody, every single person you could be, green, orange, red, yellow. He loved them all. He found the fact that we are all blended human beings, and let’s look at those things. There’s no dividing who we are.”

In a poignant revelation, Nicole shared details of their final phone call on Friday: “I was actually laughing and telling a friend this morning that I need to introduce you to my brother because he was complaining about something, but not speaking English. He was speaking to me in Zulu and speaking so loud and so passionately about something that he was going through… You all know who he is, those videos, that’s really who he is.”

She stressed that the passionate, outspoken persona fans saw online and on screen was authentic: “The person you saw on camera is exactly who he was.”

Nicole declined to elaborate on the circumstances of the shooting, noting it was “still very fresh” and that police would release details soon. She also urged social media users to stop circulating graphic images and videos of the scene, particularly for the sake of Warras’s three young sons.

Warras, a devoted father and outspoken activist against urban decay and building hijackings, had secured five protection orders prior to his death and reportedly received threats. His murder has sparked national outrage, with tributes highlighting his kindness, patriotism, and fearless voice.

As investigations continue with no arrests yet, Nicole’s words serve as a touching reminder of the man behind the microphone – a loving brother, father, and unifier silenced too soon.
