Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen to Visit Oswestry for Festive Book Signing of Her New Children’s Title

Cheating Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen is plotting her TV comeback — alongside jilted hubby Clive

Fans of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, Amanda Owen, are in for a treat this November when the much-loved TV star, author, and mother of nine visits Oswestry to promote her brand-new children’s book, Christmas Tales from the Farm.

The bestselling author and star of Our Yorkshire Farm will appear at Booka Bookshop on Sunday, November 9, from 12 pm to 2 pm, for a special book signing and meet-and-greet event expected to attract readers of all ages from across Shropshire and beyond.

A Festive Visit from the Dales

Amanda Owen, affectionately known to millions as The Yorkshire Shepherdess, has captivated audiences with her down-to-earth storytelling, hearty humour, and authentic portrayal of rural life on her 2,000-acre hill farm, Ravenseat, located in North Yorkshire.

Now, she’s bringing a touch of that magic to the Christmas season with Christmas Tales from the Farm — a beautifully illustrated collection of heartwarming short stories for children aged 7 to 11.

The book, published by Puffin, invites readers into Amanda’s world of winter wonder, where snow-dusted hills, mischievous animals, and family traditions come together to create a uniquely Yorkshire Christmas.

“Winter, and Christmas in particular, is a special time of joy and adventure at Ravenseat,” Owen said in a statement ahead of her Oswestry appearance.

“Whether that’s discovering animals who have come to the farm to shelter from the weather, like the barn owls, or the festive family traditions we’ve followed for years — like our own version of the Winter Olympics — it’s a time that’s always filled with laughter and love.”

Stories from the Heart of the Countryside

Christmas Tales from the Farm offers readers six short stories that draw directly from Amanda’s life as a working shepherdess, a mother, and a natural storyteller. Each chapter introduces new characters — both two-legged and four-legged — who embody the warmth, wit, and resilience of rural Yorkshire life.

From a “runaway reindeer” who causes chaos in the barn, to a “clever sheepdog” lost in the snow, and even a flock of “very special chickens” who save Christmas morning, every story celebrates the beauty of nature, family, and community.

The book’s enchanting illustrations by Becca Hall bring the tales to life, filling each page with the charm of the Dales and the festive spirit that defines the season.

Reviewers have praised the book for its “authentic voice” and “timeless message,” calling it “a perfect Christmas read for children — and grown-ups who still believe in magic.”

A Growing Legacy of Storytelling

Owen’s connection with the public has only deepened since her breakout success on the Channel 5 series Our Yorkshire Farm, which followed her life alongside husband Clive Owen and their nine children — Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmy, and Nancy — as they managed daily life and livestock on their remote family farm.

Her ability to blend humour with heartfelt honesty has made her one of the UK’s most beloved broadcasters. In recent years, she’s also starred in Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, continuing to document life in the Dales while sharing lessons about resilience, teamwork, and love of the land.

Beyond television, Owen is already a five-time Sunday Times bestselling author, with titles including The Yorkshire Shepherdess, Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, and Tales from the Farm.

Christmas Tales from the Farm marks her first book for children — and the beginning of a seven-book deal with Puffin.

Fans Excited to Meet Their Shepherdess

The Oswestry event promises to be one of the highlights of the town’s pre-Christmas calendar.
Fans attending the book signing will have the opportunity to purchase copies of Christmas Tales from the Farm, have them personally signed by Amanda, and even share a few words with the author herself.

Booka Bookshop, known for its vibrant author events, says it’s expecting a large turnout. “Amanda’s warmth and authenticity make her a natural storyteller,” said co-owner Carrie Morris. “She brings people together, and we’re thrilled to host her in Oswestry just as the festive season begins.”

Local parents and teachers have also expressed excitement at the chance for young readers to meet one of Britain’s most inspiring real-life role models.

From Farm to Bookshelf

Owen’s literary success has often been described as an extension of her life on the land — storytelling, she says, is just another form of nurturing.

“On the farm, every day brings a new adventure,” she explained in an interview earlier this year. “Writing helps me share that sense of wonder. I want children to know that magic doesn’t always come from faraway places — sometimes, it’s right outside your window.”

With Christmas fast approaching, Christmas Tales from the Farm is already being hailed as the perfect festive gift — a storybook filled with laughter, warmth, and the reminder that even the simplest moments can become lifelong memories.
