THREE MISSISSIPPI BROTHERS ACCUSED IN ELDERLY COUPLE’S D3ATHS AND SH00TING OF TWO DEPUTIES – What began as separate criminal investigations has now evolved into a case that has left an entire community stunned.
MT. OLIVE, Miss. — UPDATE: The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has stated that Cortavion Hobbs and Cortavious Hobbs were taken into custody around 1 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office said the suspects were arrested after they were found hiding under a house in the area of the incident.
The Covington County Deputy who was shot was identified as Yates Rodney by Mississippi Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson.
“Please continue to keep Deputy Rodney and his family in your prayers,” the Smith County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Covington County deputy is fighting for his life after being shot during a traffic stop Monday afternoon, authorities said.
According to Covington County Sheriff Darrell Perkins, a Covington County deputy, Yates Rodney, attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 2:45 p.m. The driver failed to stop and went down 49 and ended up on a gravel road near Greer’s CashSaver store.
Greer’s CashSaver is located at 406 Main Street in Mt. Olive, near the Smith and Simpson County lines.
Rodney exited the vehicle and was then shot one time.

The injury was life-threatening, hitting above the vest under the arm.
Perkins confirmed that Rodney is in stable condition at Forrest General Hospital.
One other officer was with Rodney to give back-up and returned fire on the suspects. He is uninjured.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Deputy Rodney.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) issued Blue Alerts for three suspects: Zykerian Magee, 19, Cortavion Hobbs, 19, and Cortavious Hobbs, 18.
The Covington County Sheriff’s Office says that Magee turned himself in after MBI issued the alert.
Magee has been cleared as a suspect after an interview with law enforcement.
Cortavion and Cortavious remain wanted and are believed to be armed and dangerous.
Cortavion is described as a Black male who stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
Cortavion was reportedly last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie.

A second suspect is believed to be Hobb’s brother, Cortavious, according to Perkins.
Perkins stated that the suspects’ mother told a chief deputy that the suspects were her sons.
Cortavious is described as a Black male who stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
Cortavious was reportedly last seen wearing a black hoodie and gray pants.

The suspects were last seen on foot near the 200 block of South Bluff Road just after 3:30 p.m.
Perkins also stated that the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office told him that Cortavion Hobbs is related to Cordarius Hobbs, who was charged with capital murder for the deaths of a married couple in Simpson County during a standoff last week.
Cordarius appeared in court on Friday, where he was charged with 13 counts.
