SOMETHING DOESN’T ADD UP..! – Police are investigating the d-e:ad of a 2-year-old child who was reportedly left inside a vehicle at a home in Hallandale Beach, Florida, while in the care of a babysitter.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) – Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child who they say was left inside a vehicle Sunday afternoon at a home in Hallandale Beach, Florida, while in the care of a babysitter.

Officers said the child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they later died.

Investigators did not say how long the child was inside the vehicle or whether anyone would be facing charges.

This latest tragedy comes just days after a 23-month-old boy died after his father accidentally left him in the back seat of his SUV.

The father arrived at a childcare center to pick up his son last Monday afternoon, only to learn he had never dropped him off that morning. He then made that horrific discovery, finding the little boy still inside his vehicle.

Kids in Car Safety now lists Sunday’s death as the fourth hot car death involving a child in the state of Florida this year and the 10th nationwide.

The nonprofit said children’s bodies can overheat 3 to 5 times faster than adults, and most of a vehicle’s temperature.

The increase happens within the first 10 minutes.

Experts said these tragedies can happen to even the most loving and responsible caregivers, especially when stress, fatigue, and distractions take over or when routines change.

“And the change in routine doesn’t necessarily have to be earth-shattering. It could be a phone call or a detour on the way to work that changes the consciousness of a person and makes their brain go on autopilot,” said Chloe Burke of Kids and Car Safety. “And then from there, they might unknowingly know that their child is still in the vehicle.”
