Ransom Canyon Hits Netflix April 17—If You Loved Virgin River, This Small-Town Romance Will Steal Your Heart!

‘Ransom Canyon’ Trailer: “It’s War” For Josh Duhamel’s Staten Kirkland As Jodi Thomas’ Book Comes To Life In Netflix Series

A new trailer, set to “Texas Sun” by Khruangbin and Leon Bridges, has arrived for Netflix’s latest Wester TV series Ransom Canyon, based on the book by Jodi Thomas.

“In Ransom Canyon,” Josh Duhamel’s voice says over shots of ranchers riding horses, the main thoroughfare of the small Texas town, high school football games and more. “Everyone’s running from something, or running to something.”

Duhamel stars as Staten Kirkland, one of the main ranchers in the titular town, who is part of a large ensemble of the new Netflix show, out April 17.

“What’s up with that guy anyway?” Jack Schumacher’s Yancy Grey, who can be seen later on in the trailer risking it all for a rodeo ride, asks Cap Fuller (James Brolin) about the stoic Staten.

“He lost everything,” Brolin replies over a montage of a car wreck and police sirens. “Just trying to make sense of it.”

Minka Kelly stars alongside Duhamel as Quinn O’Grady, a woman back home from New York who has had eyes for Staten all these years.

“My life here is starting to fall into place,” Kelly says over a scene in which her character gets close to Eoin Macken’s. “Some things are just meant to be left in the past.”

“Quinn, it’s not your job to put his heart back in one piece,” Marianly Tejada’s Ellie tells Quinn.

“He’s my friend, Ellie, and don’t give me that look,” Quinn quips back.

April Blair is the showrunner and executive producer of Ransom Canyon. In addition to those already mentioned, the series also stars Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner and Philip Winchester. Kate Burton, Casey W. Johnson, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, Jaren Robledo, Niko Guardado, Justin Johnson Cortez, Tatanka Means, Kenneth Miller and Meta Golding recur.
