Niall Horan, who won seasons 23 and 24 as a coach on NBC’s The Voice, will return to the singing competition series alongside Snoop Dogg as a coach for season 28.
Niall Horan knows the one direction he’s heading: toward The Voice’s set.
After a two-year hiatus from NBC’s singing competition series, E! News can exclusively reveal that the “Slow Hands” singer will return to the iconic red chair as a coach for season 28.
The One Direction alum previously excelled in the role in seasons 23 and 24, having won both installments with contestants Gina Miles and Huntley, respectively.
Following his first Voice win, Niall reflected on how his time in 2010 on the U.K.’s The X Factor—where he placed in third with his former boy band members Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik—surprisingly helped him as a coach.
“[That experience] did come into play more than I thought it would, or more than I thought I would allow it to,” he told People in June 2023. “Being there with the contestants every week, picking songs, keeping them calm—because it’s crazy how talented these young kids are, and with that level of talent comes a level of seriousness, and I was always trying to get them to enjoy it.”
He continued, “Having come from a show like that, it felt normal to be doing The Voice to me. If I was just a singer and I hadn’t been on a show like that before, I’m sure I would have been a bit more deer in the headlights, but I knew what I was getting myself into, and I think it was helpful.”
For season 28, Niall will be joining fellow former coach Snoop Dogg, who served in the role during season 26. Ahead of his coaching debut, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper detailed his excitement for joining the Emmy-winning competition series.

“Well, if you know anything about me, you know I love all forms of music,” Snoop said during a May 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “So this is a great opportunity for me to show that I really understand music and to be a real coach. And to really give direction to some of these artists that could be today’s next big thing.”
