There’s nothing like a gripping psychological drama to give you goosebumps and keep you transfixed from start to finish – and that’s exactly what Netflix’s latest six-part cult drama is doing to viewers.
Unchosen stars Molly Windsor (She Said) and Asa Butterfield (Sex Education), who play Rosie and Adam, a married couple living in an isolated, conservative Christian community. But when Sam (Fra Fee), a mysterious escaped prisoner, enters her life, Rosie begins to see the cracks in both her community and her marriage.

Since landing on Tuesday, Unchosen has already shot up the UK Netflix Top 10 chart and is currently trending as the third most-watched TV show on the platform.
If you’re a fan of dramas like The Handmaid’s Tale or Midsommar, or find yourself falling down the rabbit hole of religious documentaries like Trust Me: The False Prophet, then Unchosen is definitely worth tuning into.
What have viewers said about Unchosen?
Viewers quickly took to Instagram to share their thoughts on the new drama, with one viewer penning: “I’m watching this right now. I’m transfixed but also unsettled,” while another said: “I watched it in full – manipulative behaviour at its best.”

Meanwhile, another viewer wrote on Rotten Tomatoes: “Unchosen is like a really good Harlan Coben show, with so many twists and turns. This is edge-of-your-seat viewing. The performances are excellent, particularly Asa who plays a character very different to what you’ve seen him play before and Fee who excellently portrays the character of Sam. This is a must-see if you like intense, bingeable thrillers.”
What happens in Unchosen?
The show is set in a fictional conservative religious sect, where women are expected to be subservient and men are taught to “provide”. It’s told from the perspective of Rosie, a devoted mother and wife, which heightens the tension as her world begins to unravel.
The synopsis reads: “The fateful arrival of escaped prisoner Sam into her life reveals the reality and restraints of her world; perhaps this hidden religious community doesn’t have her best interests at heart.

“And, as the cracks begin to appear in her marriage, Sam presents as her saviour. But with his dark criminal past, where does the greatest danger lie – with the cult or with Sam?”
Who stars in Unchosen?
