A 9-year-old Greenville boy has died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Mauldin, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Za’mier Messiah-Marshawn Neal, 9, of Greenville.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 3 in the area of Wild Dogwood Way in Mauldin.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports that a child pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, first responders found Za’mier suffering from severe injuries. Emergency medical personnel immediately provided treatment before transporting him to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital for advanced care.
Despite efforts by medical staff to save his life, Za’mier later succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. at the hospital.
The tragic incident has left family members, friends, and members of the Greenville community mourning the loss of the young boy.
An autopsy conducted on June 4 determined that Za’mier died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office officially ruled the manner of death as accidental.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian crash.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are jointly investigating the incident to determine exactly how the collision occurred.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the driver involved or any potential contributing factors as the investigation remains active.
