Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, the wife of Grammy-winning U.K. singer Sir Tom Jones, has died after a battle with cancer. She was 75.

Woodward, who was married to Jones for 59 years, died Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, “surrounded by her husband and loved ones,” according to a statement on Jones’ personal website.

Jones, the star behind hits like 1965’s “It’s Not Unusual,” and Woodward met at age 12 in their Wales hometown, reported the BBC. They were married in 1957 at age 16.

Despite public relationship struggles, including numerous high-profile infidelities, according to the Guardian, the couple stayed together for nearly six decades. They had one son, Mark, who is Jones’ manager.

Just a few weeks prior to Woodward’s death, Jones canceled a performance in Manila, writing on Twitter that the decision was “due to a serious illness in the family.”

He later canceled six more performances, citing the same serious illness.
