THE Voice fans were left “sobbing” as Sir Tom Jones performed an emotional song dedicated to his late wife Melinda Trenchard.

He was handed the mic during the first episode of the new series of the ITV show – as the live audience begged for him to sing for them.

Sir Tom, 82, was then seen performing I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall to the studio audience, before explaining the meaning.

His fellow judges and fans fell silent as Tom sang the song, released as part of his album Surrounded By Time, released last year.

He went on to explain that he had written the emotional song in memory of his wife Melinda, who passed away in 2016.

Tom was left heartbroken when Linda passed away aged 75 in Los Angeles after a “short but fierce” battle with lung cancer.

He told the audience: “My wife, you know, she was dying of lung cancer, so I said, you know, I was always able to fix stuff, to do things if she needed me I was always there.

“She said, ‘Don’t crumble with me, don’t fall now, you’ve done everything you can, you must carry on and do what you do.

“So I put the song, when I heard it, it was like it was written for this situation. It’s a lovely song.”

His fellow judges Olly Murs and Anne-Marie were seen breaking down in tears – and viewers at home felt the same way.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “I was sobbing like a baby hearing Sir Tom sing that beautiful song but the story about his late wife has absolutely broken me.”

Another chimed in: “Anyone else sobbing at Tom Jones singing.”

“I cannot describe how much I love Sir Tom. And that tribute to his wife just made me cry so much,” a third said.

“Tom you made me cry,” a fourth said, while a fifth concluded: “Tom Jones is making me bawl my eyes out.”

It comes after fans of The Voice took to social media in a frenzy to gush over a veteran judge – claiming he’s “hotter than Olly Murs”.

The Sexbomb singer was seen dressing up in a red suit as he sang and danced around – wowing with his vocal control as he led the performance of Kygo hit Higher Love.

One fan wrote to Twitter after the song: “I’m not sure who’s hotter, Sir Tom Jones or Olly Murs.”

“Oh lovely time for a bit of sexy Tom, my guilty pleasure,” a second added, as a third said: “At about 82 years young, Tom Jones still has his iconic voice.”

A fourth chimed in: “Sir Tom Jones you are a LEGEND.”

It comes after Tom revealed his secret feud with a legendary crooner who refused to sing with him at Platinum Jubilee.
