No one knows what’s going to happen in any given NFL season, but it’s become the strongest bet imaginable to predict the Kansas City Chiefs will be in a Super Bowl. That has just been the reality since Patrick Mahomes took over as their starting quarterback, making it to five of the past seven Super Bowls and appearing in every single AFC Championship game.

There’s reason to believe that dominance won’t continue. An exposing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX has analysts pondering if the Chiefs’ dynasty is over. As if there needed to be any more fuel for that fire, Fox Sports talk show host Emmanuel Acho has stoked the flames.

Emmanuel Acho says Chiefs could go on a long Super Bowl drought

Acho likens the current Chiefs team to the New England Patriots under Tom Brady, during the 2005 through 2013 seasons. The Patriots didn’t win a Super Bowl for 10 years, and he believes Mahomes and the Chiefs could be heading for a similar drought.

Acho mentions the Eagles and Baltimore Ravens being “way, way better from a roster perspective” than the Chiefs. He says the Buffalo Bills have closed the gap and the Los Angeles Chargers are “up and coming” under Jim Harbaugh.

Acho says people are afraid to even consider they may go on a long dry spell, claiming that it’s “sacrilegous” to talk about Mahomes and Andy Reid possibly not winning a Super Bowl.

Although the Patriots didn’t win a Super Bowl between the 2004 and 2014 seasons, they did make two of them, losing both times to the New York Giants. They also made it to five AFC Championship games, so they weren’t exactly struggling.
