Tom Brady jetted into London on Sunday hoping to inspire Birmingham City‘s players and fans ahead of their Football League Trophy final at Wembley. His presence didn’t lift the Blues up.

Despite securing promotion to the second tier of English football on Tuesday with a win over Peterborough, that same side defeated Birmingham on Sunday in the EFL Trophy Final, denying Brady’s side another piece of hardware.

The NFL legend is a minority owner in the Midlands side, which secured the League One title on Saturday after the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-backed Wrexham only mustered a scoreless draw against Wigan.

The Blues could not round out their historic week with the trifecta of amazing news, even more disappointing with Brady in the crowd.

Before the London final, Brady addressed a large crowd of Birmingham supporters.

‘The way the players and the staff have been performing has made us all so proud… I know we have a big one today. This is going to be exciting for all of us. Being at Wembley is a dream come true for all of us. Hopefully we have much more to celebrate later this afternoon,’ Brady said.

On Friday, Brady was at the enormous American Dream mall in New Jersey for the grand opening of his Card Vault store.

Brady is two months removed from finishing his first year as a color commentator for Fox Sports for the NFL season on a 10-year, $375million.

Brady was snubbed earlier this week by the Emmys, as he was not nominated in the ‘Outstanding Personality/Event Analyst’ category, while watching a colleague get the nod.

Brady replaced Greg Olsen as Fox Sports’ top color commentator for the 2024 season, but it was the former Carolina Panther who earned a nomination.

Olsen was nominated in the category for the fourth straight year alongside Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning, Bill Raftery, and John Smoltz.

Brady had a rough first season calling the games for Fox, as he was paired with veteran broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt.

Olsen was demoted to the network’s No 2 team despite his trio of Emmy nominations heading into last season.
