Meghan’s father has spoken about his daughter’s first marriage in an apparent dig at Prince Harry

Meghan Markle’s father is understood to have angered Prince Harry with his latest comments concerning his estranged daughter.

Thomas Markle, 80, is no stranger to confrontation with the pair after being engaged in several spats throughout the relationship

Mr Markle appeared to make a brutal, unprovoked dig at the prince as he claimed that he “likes Meghan’s first husband”.

An insider with knowledge of the Sussexes claimed that the comments had left the prince “angered.”

They said: “Thomas has dealt a strong blow to Harry with the royal’s comparison to Meghan’s first husband, as per The News International.

“Thomas has angered Harry as his comments seem to be an insult.”

Mr Markle also said that he believes Meghan made a mistake in splitting from first husband Trevor Engelson

The father and daughter have been estranged throughout Meghan’s relationship with Harry, although Mr Markle is understood to still have photos of his daughter placed around his house, including pictures from her first wedding.

However, he is not on speaking terms with his eldest daughter Meghan, his only child from second wife Doria Ragland, and the pair have not spoken since before her wedding to Harry in May 2018.

He famously did not attend the royal wedding, saying at the time that his absence was as a result of recovering from surgery.

Mr Markle said he cried as he watched his daughter walk down the aisle with the then Prince Charles, from a B&B where he was recovering from his operation.
