Prince Harry has spent the last few years in a bitter feud with his family – but it seems the wounds run both ways, with Charles and William also having hurt Harry.

As Prince Harry’s 40th birthday approaches, the rift between him and the rest of the Royal family remains deep, following a series of allegations made in his memoir ‘Spare’ and recent documentary series. Despite attempts to reconcile with his father and brother-in-law Prince William amid their ongoing health struggles, relations remain tense.
In an interview prior to the release of ‘Spare’, the Duke told ITV’s Tom Bradby, “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back,” but lamented that “they’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile”.
In the memoir, Harry made several accusations against William, including an alleged physical assault during a disagreement over Meghan in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage.
The book also painted a less than flattering picture of Prince Charles, depicting him as an emotionally stunted father who married Camilla despite his sons’ objections. It further claimed Charles was envious of his sons’ popularity and criticised the Queen Consort, accusing her of leaving a trail of destruction in her pursuit of enhancing her image.
The royals have reportedly caused significant upset with their actions in recent years, according to The Sunday Times. Notably, the Duke was deeply hurt by the Royal family even before his memoir was published, particularly following the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022, reports the Mirror.

Charles’ decision to prevent Harry from wearing his military uniform during the mourning period – except for the vigil at Westminster Hall with his cousins two days before the funeral – was a major blow. This was justified on the grounds that Harry was “no longer a working royal” after stepping back from Royal duties in 2020 to lead a quieter life in America with his wife Meghan Markle and their young family.
The hurt was intensified when his Blues and Royals uniform arrived with his grandmother’s “ER” initials removed from the shoulder, leaving him “devastated, reports The Sunday Times.
A friend of Harry’s told The Times that he was “heartbroken” by this and had considered wearing a morning suit to avoid “humiliation”. “To remove his grandmother’s initials feels very intentional,” the friend commented.

In a shocking turn of events, the Sussexes were initially led to believe they would be joining their family at Buckingham Palace on the eve of the funeral. However, this was soon proven false when their invitations were abruptly “rescinded” after it was decided that only “working members of the royal family” could attend.
This decision was particularly harsh for Prince Harry, who subsequently missed a crucial family briefing about the upcoming funeral.
A close friend of the Royal stated: “The King made some really bad decisions – it was conveyed that he didn’t want them there. For f***’s sake, this was a global reception for his grandmother, and as her grandson, he should have been there.”
