Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been left “bemused” by the latest attempt to evict them from Royal Lodge, it has been claimed.

According to The Sun on Sunday, a Palace Insider recently spoke of King Charles’ plan to remove Andrew’s guards in an attempt to evict him from his Windsor-based property.

The insider said: “Everyone is speculating this means the Duke will have to leave Royal Lodge because what other reason could there be to take his security away? They are all working the final weeks of their contract till the end of October.

“It’s not thought anyone is being lined up to replace them. It isn’t a secret that the King wants him out.”

The Daily Mail, as per Richard Eden’s latest article, also reported that Royal Lodge is not owned by the King – but by the independent Crown Estate.

Due to this, and despite claims to the contrary, the 30-room home could not be let to a private tenant instead of the Duke and Duchess of York.

Mr Eden also reported that the insider believes the King could not be “motivated by saving money”. He wrote: “After all, not only did he receive £86.3million via the Sovereign Grant to fund the working royals last year, but he was also handed more than £27million from the Monarch’s Duchy of Lancaster estate, to spend as he sees fit. And that’s before he dips into his private fortune.”

King Charles is now said to be withdrawing private funding for security on the estate which cost £3million a year. This plan means that unless Andrew can generate the financial resources to pay for repairs the property needs, as well as foot the security bill, he could be faced with being evicted from the property.

Sarah, 64, gave Spanish outlet ¡HOLA! TV a surprising six-word remark when asked about the possibility of eviction: “Don’t always believe what you read.”
